Sizing Tips

  • πŸ“If between sizes, go up - especially for structured garments like blazers and denim. Tailoring a garment that is slightly too large is straightforward; adding fabric to one that is too small is not.
  • 🧡Stretch fabrics (jersey, lycra, elastane blends) run smaller because they are designed to fit snugly; size down or choose your usual measurement size.
  • πŸ§₯For outerwear, go up one size to layer comfortably underneath, particularly if you plan to wear thick knitwear or suits beneath.
  • πŸ‘—Dresses: size for your largest measurement - bust, waist, or hips - and have the garment taken in where it is too loose. A good tailor can fix a dress that is too large but cannot make one larger.
  • πŸ‘ŸShoes: if half sizes are not available, go up. Feet swell throughout the day, so shop for shoes in the afternoon when your feet are at their largest.
  • 🌍Vanity sizing - where brands label larger garments with smaller size numbers to flatter the buyer - is widespread, particularly in women's fashion. Always check the brand's own measurements, not just the size label.

How to Measure

🫁 Chest / Bust

Wrap a soft tape measure around the fullest part of your chest/bust, keeping it parallel to the floor. Don't pull tight - keep one finger's gap.

⏱️ Waist

Measure around your natural waist - the narrowest part of your torso, usually about 2-3cm above your belly button. Breathe out naturally.

πŸ‘ Hips

Stand with feet together and measure around the widest part of your hips and seat, typically 20-23cm below your natural waist.

πŸ“ Inside Leg (Inseam)

Measure from your crotch down to your ankle bone along the inside of your leg. Useful for trousers and jeans.

✨ Size charts are general guides. Fit varies by brand - always check the retailer's own chart when available.
